East Village Hibiscus

Who knew that hibiscus was the flower of choice in the East Village for the hottest of hot days. I always associate these beauties with tropical destinations, but apparently their heat tolerance extends to the concrete jungle of NYC. A lovely pop of color – check out the three I spotted just walking in the neighborhood today.

Oh, and the Big Gay Ice Cream Shop is almost ready to open on East 7th Street. Between that, Butterlane Cupcakes, and Van Leeuwen’s Artisan Ice Cream all within a block of each other, it’s a dessert danger zone!
