Cork Garlands

Happy Monday all! This weekend I was feeling a bit crafty so I constructed these garlands out of wine corks. They are currently hanging in our bedroom as a “temporary installation” but can be used on mantles or as party decorations. I’m currently experimenting with some other color combinations and  painting/dying techniques too and even contemplating selling them on Etsy so stay tuned. Whattya think?

First I cut all the corks in half using an exacto knife, then painted them with acrylic paint

After letting them dry overnight, I drilled holes in each one and strung them in different combinations on yarn.

As you can see, there are three individual strands – they can be layered or hung separately

Also, file this project under sustainable decor. These are all recycled corks from local restaurants.
