This past weekend, I celebrated the 30th birthdays of four high school friends until the wee hours of the night at my friend Dylan’s gorgeous family brownstone is Brooklyn. Leah made her very own Confetti System-esque garlands in sunset colors, accompanied by matching balloons. It was a spectacular addition to the space, and I will most likely be asking her to do a guest appearance on Mercier Beaucoup – a step-by-step guide of DIY sunset garlands….
I happened to take note that nearly every single male guest at the fete (well, maybe like 70%) was wearing some kind of a checked or plaid shirt. I know this is very Brooklyn and all, but there was hardly a stripe or solid in the house! I only wish I had gathered all the dudes to take a photo of all the varieties just so everyone could witness the sheer volume of checks and plaids. We’re talking, fat baby blue and cream checks, mini red and blue checks, red plaid, turquoise flannel, fat and skinny ginghams – and the list goes on. Now I happen to like this look very much, but it’s a far cry from the stripes that dominated the man-wear scene just a few years back. So what gives? I dunno, but I’m happy to let this trend continue and below are some other plaid and check inspirations.
